Unicorns And Fairies - The Untold Story

Once upon a time, there was a unicorn who loved to eat fairies.  Unicorns are usually perceived as cute, lovable creatures.  But not this Unicorn.

This unicorn had a taste for fairies.   Here's how it started.

When he was a little unicorn, and his horn was just growing, as a matter of chance, a fairy impaled itself on its newly-growing horn, a rather sharp horn at that.  The first trickle of fairy blood made its way down the unicorn's horn, swirling around the ridges of the horn on its way down, and finally, after some time, drained into the mouth of the unicorn.  It was then the unicorn got its first taste of fairy blood.

The unicorn became euphoric.  It danced and hopped everywhere hopped up on fairy blood.  For the first time, the unicorn felt truly magical.  Colors became brighter.  Sounds became more crisp.  The unicorn could feel even the slightest breeze on its body.

With its tail high in the air, the unicorn galloped.  It sprinted for what seemed like hours.  A thunderous roar was created as all 4 hoofs landed with slightly-offset synchronization creating the sound of one giant, thunderous rumbling hammer striking the ground.

The ground shook at its every prance.   The unicorn could see small animals ahead of him running for their lives.  Yes, this unicorn was now a force to be reckoned with.  A giant white horned-stallion thundering through the meadow at tremendous speed, a dead fairy impaled on its horn, the fairy blood dripping down the horn into its mouth.

The unicorn then stumbled on a pool of still water and decided to drink.  The long sprints through the forest had make him thirsty, very thirsty.  The unicorn started to drink from the pond.  It gulped and gulped water until its belly was enlarged.

But then something happened.

The impaled fairy was now drained all of its blood and was now an empty carcass, its wings limp and lifeless.  The once wet, flowing blood was now dried and still and empty.  The euphoria was starting to wear off.  The unicorn was coming down hard.

Now in a panic, the unicorn looked around near the pond for more fairies but, alas, there were none.  As a matter of fact, there was no living creatures anywhere that the unicorn could see.  All the animals had fled.

So, to this day, that unicorn hunts fairies, using his horn as a weapon, hoping to re-gain the feeling of that first magical day.
